A Night of Flavor and Unity:

On the evening of Sunday, April 24, 2022, the vibrant Hub in Cambourne played host to a unique event — a pop-in dinner co-hosted by Cambourne’s Experimental Cookery Club, a division of the registered charity CamCare UK, and the Stand With Ukraine Against War Foundation. It was more than just a culinary experience; it was a night where members of the public, families, and friends gathered to enjoy a 3-course international menu, showcasing the flavours of unity and community spirit.

A Fundraising Dinner – Global Feast:

The dinner menu was a testament to the rich tapestry of international cuisine. Dishes like Borsch, Polish Sour Cabbage with Mushrooms, Aubergine Bharta, Paska (Ukrainian Easter Cake), and vegetable lasagne graced the tables. What made this feast truly special was that the talented members of the Cookery Club lovingly prepared all the dishes.

Dr. Shrobona Bhattacharya’s Community Vision:

As the evening unfolded, CamCare Director, Cllr Dr Shrobona Bhattacharya, took centre stage. She shared insights into the importance of community and her journey as a newcomer to Cambourne, ultimately leading to the establishment of The Cambourne Experimental Cookery Club. Dr. Bhattacharya highlighted the numerous cultural celebrations that have become integral to the Cambourne annual calendar, reflecting the community’s rich diversity.

Standing with Ukraine: A Fundraising Triumph

Julia Kedziora, representing the Stand With Ukraine Foundation, shed light on the purpose behind the event. The night brought people together through a shared love for food and raised an impressive £1500 or more. These funds will be directed towards covering transportation costs for aid to Ukrainians and acquiring essentials for the Uniters Foundation. Beyond being a delightful gastronomic experience, the dinner became a platform for supporting those in need during challenging times.

Conclusion: Culinary Connections and Compassion

The pop-in dinner at The Hub was more than just a culinary delight; it celebrated community, diversity, and compassion. Through the lens of food, Cambourne’s Experimental Cookery Club and the Stand With Ukraine Against War Foundation brought people together, fostering a sense of unity and shared humanity. Every bite echoed a commitment to standing with Ukraine and a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives.
