CERC’s First Demonstration of Projects 2018-Unveiling Young Wizards

CERC Demonstration of Projects 2018

Igniting Sparks of Innovation

In a momentous event on April 14, 2018, Cambourne Electronics and Robotics Club (CERC) proudly presented its first demonstration of Projects. The wizards behind CERC, aged 7 to 14, showcased around 30 innovative projects using BBC Micro:bit technology. This landmark event took place at the Old Blue School, marking the culmination of months of passionate learning and experimentation.

Dr. Sujit Bhattacharya’s Inspirational Opening

The event commenced with a compelling presentation by Dr. Sujit Bhattacharya, the mentor of CERC. Dr. Bhattacharya emphasized the club’s pivotal role in shaping the younger generation and fostering a positive societal impact. This set the stage for an impressive array of project presentations and live demonstrations by approximately 20 CERCians.

Demonstration of Projects and Creative Brilliance

CERCians delved into diverse projects, from automatic street lighting to flood detection, showcasing their coding skills and technical prowess. Each presentation detailed the project’s aim, functionality, coding techniques, and a live demonstration. This experience enhanced their scientific communication skills and garnered appreciation from parents, family, friends, and the community.

Recognition and Progress

All participants were honoured with certificates of recognition, symbolizing their achievements. The journey for CERCians continues as they move on to the next level of coding in Micro:Python, unlocking new realms of creativity and exploration.

Beyond Robotics: A 3D-Printing Marvel

The audience also witnessed a live demonstration of a 3D printer, presented by local resident Mr. Kaisar, adding another layer of technological marvel to the event.

Join the CERC Journey

CERC has initiated a second batch to accommodate more aspiring members. The free and open club conducts sessions every alternate Sunday at the Old Blue School. CERCians explore the intricacies of basic electronics components, learn to utilize sensors for various projects, and engage in group projects.

For membership inquiries and volunteering opportunities, please get in touch with Dr. Shrobona Bhattacharya at [email protected].

Witness the magic of CERCians again at the 3rd Annual Cambourne Science Festival on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Cambourne Hub. Participate, volunteer, and encourage our local budding scientists!
