Celebrating Engineering Excellence and Robotic Brilliance

Cambridge Electronics and Robotics Club (CERC) has once again etched its name in the annals of excellence, securing the prestigious award for Engineering Excellence and clinching third place in the robot game at the FIRST LEGO League 2022 National Final. A Streak of Success:

TeamCERC’s journey to the nationals marks a remarkable four-year streak, consistently emerging as the Cambridgeshire champions. Comprising 5 girls and 5 boys aged between 9-14 years, hailing from six different places and studying in six different schools, the team’s diversity mirrors its strength.

Multifaceted Skills on Display:

TeamCERC left an indelible mark at the Cambridgeshire regional competition by securing top scores in all categories – robot design, core value, robot performance, and design projects. The team’s prowess extended beyond robotics, showcasing skills in computer programming, teamwork, research, problem-solving, and communication.

Recognition and Applause:

The organizers showered praise on TeamCERC, acknowledging them as reigning champs, with a well-deserved accolade. This year, the Best Coach Award found its home with Mr. Venkat Kommi, the mentor steering TeamCERC towards excellence.

A Participant’s Journey:

Vivek, a 13-year-old participant, shared his growth over three years with CERC, stating, “I improved year by year, now being able to create anything with Lego mechanics and gears. I understand the logic to code complex sensors and present innovative projects that could potentially shape the future.”

Community Support and Origin:

Gratitude was extended to Cambourne Parish Council for providing essential support and offering rooms for practice. CERC, the academic wing of the local charity CamCare UK, traces its origin to the kitchen of Cllr. Dr. Shrobona Bhattacharya. The mission of CERC is clear – to empower today’s youth with 21st-century technical skills, nurturing them to become the innovators of tomorrow.
